While waiting for play to resume….

The Master’s Golf Tournament held in early April every year at Augusta National Golf Course has been an important fixture in my calendar for years. It is a sign that winter in Alberta is waning and golf is not too far off. The extent of the television coverage is far greater than any other golf tournament. The commentators are knowledgeable and this tournament attracts the very best male golfers in the world. I watch and hope, with great anticipation that I will learn something which will result in my having an even better golf season than previous years. The weather, this year, in Augusta has been extremely wet. There was a rain delay yesterday and another today. I used these delays to make images in my makeshift studio/office, of a bouquet of flowers that was given to me last week by my daughter. The contrast between living and dying is what caught my eye.

The poppy is fading quickly and its mate on the left is not far behind. The poppies had been very perky for most of the week until this morning.

Dying gracefully and with dignity; vibrant petals are the last vestiges of the poppies’ beauty.

Second Rain Delay – Paying Respect to the Fallen Poppies.

There were only four remaining flowers in the bouquet. I wanted to create a sense of warmth and softness as a contrast to the harsh reality of dying. The images that follow are multiple exposures taken with my macro 105mm lens.
